Who is Ed Miliband?
Ed Miliband is Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and the minister in charge of The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

What is the DECC?
Recognising that the decisions we make now will affect the planet and our way of life for generations to come, the DECC was created in October 2008, bringing together energy policy and climate change mitigation policy to tackle the unprecedented challenges to our environment, economy and energy security.

The DECC’s three overall objectives are:

  • Ensuring our energy is secure, affordable and efficient;
  • Bringing about the transition to a low-carbon Britain;
  • Achieving an international agreement on climate change at Copenhagen in December 2009.
